These answers cover the course and portal experience. Questions about a bankruptcy case or legal strategy should be directed to a qualified attorney.
Which course do I take first?
Pre-filing credit counseling is completed before filing. Post-filing debtor education is the second course, completed after filing and before discharge.
How much does an online course cost?
Each online course is $25 for an individual or joint household.
Can I stop and come back?
Yes. Sign back in to the portal with the same account to resume your available course.
Do my spouse and I need separate accounts?
A joint household can enroll together when applicable. The portal collects the information needed for each person on the case.
When will I receive my certificate?
Certificate release follows course completion, required counselor contact, and staff review. After release, delivery by email, fax, or secure portal download is available within one hour. Physical mail may be available by request but is not part of the one-hour service commitment.
Which languages are available?
Online courses are available in English, Spanish, and Korean. Thai assistance is available by telephone or through interpreter assistance, but a Thai online course is not offered.
Are telephone, walk-in, or paperwork services available?
Yes. Telephone, walk-in, and paperwork service options are available for $50. Contact our team to confirm the appropriate service and current payment options.
Can my attorney see my status?
An attorney connected to your account can view the clients and certificate information assigned to that attorney. Attorneys cannot view unrelated clients.
I already have an account. Where do I sign in?
Use the shared Portal Login. Your account role determines the workspace shown after sign-in.
